SNOWDRIFTS

Snowdrifts blanket and conceal, enclose you in a quietness

An awareness of the mass each snowflake carries as it covers a landscape

Ice formed by pressure, snowflakes accumulating, exploring what is revealed when the snow melts

Blows away, clears and uncovers — tunneling to the center, discovering what is buried beneath

This installation will change over the course of the exhibition, but only as the weather conditions dictate; we will not be altering it intentionally.

4LetterWord

4LetterWord is a collaboration of like-minded designers and was formed to explore temporal installations involving sound and space. Located in Anchorage, Alaska, 4LetterWord researches northern-specific approaches to architectonic experiences.

Karen Larsen, a graphic designer and owner of Creative S P A C E, a graphic design firm in Anchorage. Since moving to Alaska in 1999, Larsen has been involved with a variety of installations and projects, including for the Alaska Design Forum.

Mary Ellen Read, an architect who received her architecture degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and worked for a number of firms in Vancouver, B.C, specializing in residential buildings. Before moving to Alaska in 2008, she worked in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
