Creative Writing
The writing Freeze embraces the northern life through literature and spoken word, incorporating the works of published authors with those of Alaskans in the community. You can read the poems, essays, excerpts, short stories or commentaries from our featured writers and public submissions.
We thank everyone who attended our three Northern Writers’ readings and open mic events in January 2009:
- January 10: The kick-off Northern Writers’ reading and open mic at 1 p.m. as part of a series of events opening the Freeze project on the Delaney Park Strip between E and I streets.
- January 16: The Northern Writers’ beat reading with an open mic from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bernie’s Bungalow, 7th Ave & D Street.
- January 31: Mr. White Keys hosted the final reading from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Anchorage Museum. Featured authors included screenwriter and novelist Don Reardon, and poets Joan Kane and Jeremy Pataky.
