Volunteer Needs
Construction Assistants
Work with artists, architects and designers from Alaska and around the world, assisting in constructing their installations. Volunteer for an hour at a time, or for a larger commitment to realize the installations. This is an opportunity to experience the creation of an artwork from start to finish and to get to know the project participants.
We’re looking for volunteers with a variety of experience, from unskilled to skilled. You can request to work with a specific team, or sign up to work wherever needed.
We also need volunteers who might be willing to bring coffee and food to team members and volunteers as they work.
The installation construction period is January 1 through January 9 – daytime through evening. Installations open to the public on January 10. There will be special receptions for team members and construction volunteers on the evenings of January 9 and 10. The project site is the Delaney Park Strip, between E and I Streets.
This is a winter project so volunteers signing up to work with teams on site should be prepared to be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and should dress accordingly.
January 10th Opening Event
We’re looking for volunteers to greet the public, distribute maps, and assist performers and speakers at the opening event for the installations on the Delaney Park Strip.
We’re also looking for volunteers to serve as “chaperones” for the dancers who will be performing on the Park Strip and through downtown to the Anchorage Museum.
January 10th Performance
We’re looking for 99 people to sit with lighted candles as part of an art installation/performance.
Site Monitors
We’re looking for volunteers to walk the installation sites, check on maps & supplies, and keep things clean. We can use assistance from January 11 – February 1. If you can volunteer on just one day, it would help FREEZE. If you can volunteer for several days, it would help even more.
